Hotels in Langkawi: Lot 33 Boutique Hotel, Pantai Tengah

We spent 2 nights in Langkawi at Lot 33 Boutique Hotel on Pantai Tengah (quite new, it opened in July 2017). Our room on the first floor was clean and spartan, had double beds with a nice curved smart TV. It had minimal deco (I get the feeling that it’s half finished - pics of other family sized rooms had more furniture in it) and a weird smell. They really need to get some deodorizer or a nice scent-diffuser in the room - it smelt like cooked rice. Maybe wafting from the restaurant below?

Our room was 33-1

The best part about our stay is definitely, without a doubt, the YUGGGEE bathroom, which is as big as (if not bigger) than the room itself! The shower area was the largest I’ve been in at a hotel, shitting area is normal, there were double sinks and a large mirror, an open concept cabinet, a standing fan, a chair and a JACUZZI that can fit 4 people!! You can throw a party in here and jam 10 people inside, it’s amazing.

The pool was small but perfect for the 3 of us that afternoon. Macaques and dusky leaf monkeys occasionally walk by the perimeter of the pool. Avoid direct eye contact with the alpha male and do not offer food to them - as cute as they look, they are wild animals.

Breakfast which was included in our room rate is cooked upon order, choose from fruit pancakes, regular pancakes or toast and sausages.

Very Balinese feel

What's below our balcony

The hotel’s location is about 2km from Cenang. Far, but it gives you some quiet from the bustle of the crowd (although I found that sitting at the cafe area was quite stressful - all I heard was the buzzing of cars and bikes whizzing past).

Attractions within walking distance of Lot 33:
  • The Woods, a quiet bar with a snooker pool and dart boards
  • Sunba, Langkawi’s only club is also just down the road before Cenang Beach
  • Alun-Alun Spa (never been there - anyone tried it before?)
  • Turkish market next door where you can get yummy baklavas, pomegranate juices and olives and hummus
  • Unkaizan, my favourite Japanese restaurant in Langkawi is also down the road
